patio tomato plant

Tomato plants can easily grow in pots on a patio or deck.  This one in particular didn’t produce very well.  Maybe the plant itself was subpar or the SE Texas heat hampered it because I didn’t water enough.  I’m learning all the time.  One tip I recently learned was to plant the bottom stem 2 inches into the soil in order to produce a stronger root system.  (this applies to starter plants from a garden center, etc.)
