eat hard, train harder

To conclude with my last quick tip of the year, let's keep it simple. The advance training and nutrition strategies can wait 'til next year!

During this Christmas season, most of us will have the opportunity to consume high calorie foods, exciting adult beverages, and decadent desserts.

In the last 11 days of the year, I'll be the last person to discourage you from such treats and good times. But, I will be the first person to encourage you to take the excess calories (fuel) and train as hard as finish out the year on a strong note.

That's right. Hit the pavement or treadmill for cardio interval training. Hit your gym for a good iron-moving workout. (Just stay away from those machines). Step outside for some rounds of body weight movements, e.g., push-ups, squats, lunges, planks, etc.

Be active every day, and you'll not only feel better to enjoy your time with family and friends, but you'll drive those excess calories towards fueling your physical activity AND recovery.

Rather than packing on 5 lbs of fat, you may only slip on 1 lb of fat. Or better yet, you'll break even with your calories in and calories out.

Finally, there are those extreme individuals who will take the PRIMAL approach. They will eat cleaner and train harder than ever before. They will get lean. They will get ripped. They will get so cut up that they'll find Band-Aids in their stockings. If you're that individual, I salute you!
