Let's conclude this series with variations to your protein smoothie.

In addition to bananas and berries, mangoes go well in a protein smoothie.

Besides chocolate flavored protein powder, vanilla and strawberry flavored powders compliment a fruit smoothie.

Another point worth noting is that it's better to use a protein blend that contains whey isolate, whey concentrate, and casein because a protein blend is more filling, digests slowly, and is more economical.

Pure whey isolate/whey concentrate is more effective when taken alone. More on this in a future tip.

Although I choose water as the liquid in my smoothies, other options include orange juice, mango juice, coconut juice, etc.. Experiment to discover which juice compliments the other ingredients in your smoothie.

Just be aware the juice is high in fructose (fruit sugar) and can quickly increase your carb count AND overall calorie count.

Natural peanut butter is another ingredient that goes well with a chocolate and banana based smoothie.

Finally, a client introduced me to a smoothie that I now drink on a weekly basis, so give this a try: strawberries, banana, mango juice or mangoes, raw spinach leaves, yogurt, cottage cheese, and almond milk (as the liquid). This is a very wholesome and tasty addition to my homemade protein smoothies.
