Before moving on, I think it's helpful to describe some ways to achieve the proper omega-6 to omega-3 ratio. It's a combination of cutting back on foods rich in omega-6 while eating more foods rich in omega-3.
To optimize omega-6's, focus on:
- nuts and seeds
- flax seed and flax seed oil
- moderate intake of vegetable oils
To optimize omega-3's, focus on:
- cold water fish
- fish oil capsules
- nuts, flax seed, flax seed oil
Many will need to drastically reduce processed foods, such as crackers, breads, cakes, cookies, and chips, all of which contain vegetable oils. Fast foods must be limited as well.
Natural foods will keep us healthy and do the work for us. It's all of the junk in modern nutrition that sabotages our human performance.
